The Mid-Columbia Training Association was reorganized and renamed to Columbia Gorge Training Association (CGTA) in 2005 to reflect its broader membership of counties and fire districts along both the Oregon and Washington sides of the Columbia River Gorge, as well as the Columbia Gorge Scenic Area, the Oregon Department of Forestry, and the U.S. Forest Service.

The goal of the CGTA is to provide training in fire and EMS services so certification of its members can be maintained at all levels. CGTA is recognized by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).

The mission of the Columbia Gorge Training Association is to be a professional, pro-active organization, providing the best possible training to the firefighters and EMT’s of the Columbia Gorge area.

Our Association is progressive and always evolving to meet the demands of todays All-Hazards Fire Service.

The Regional Fire Academy has trained over 120 Firefighters over the last 5 years. Our success is attributed to inter-agency cooperation and a regional instructor cadre.
